Gas Heater Servicing
All gas heaters should be serviced at least once every two years and tested for carbon monoxide spillage as per Energy Safe Victoria’s guidelines.
It is mandatory by the Victorian Building Authority that servicing of gas heaters be carried out by a licensed gas fitter. Garcia Plumbing has been a licensed gas fitter in Melbourne since 2005 and has completed thousands of successful services in that time.
If you have any of the following types of Gas Heaters in your home, you want to protect your family and loved ones from potential carbon monoxide dangers by having them services regularly.
⁃ Wall heaters or furnaces
⁃ Ducted heaters
⁃ Central heating
⁃ Log fire heaters
⁃ Small or Space heaters
Our servicing methods of gas heaters also include negative pressure testing, as well as many of the following steps mentioned below, but will vary depending on the type of heater you have in your home.
• Conduct negative pressure test (potential to cause carbon monoxide spillage)
• Inspect heat exchanger for any fractures (potential to cause carbon monoxide spillage)
• Clean heater & fan of accumulated lint
• Inspect flue termination for correct clearances, any obstructions & approved gas cowl.
• Test/adjust gas pressures
• Test final operation to ensure everything is running perfectly
• Conduct carbon monoxide spillage test
Important Information on the safety of your family:
The reason all gas heaters should be serviced at least once every 2 years is to ensure safe operation of the heater avoiding carbon monoxide spillage or a fire.
We service all types of heaters, including some of these more well-known brands:
• Heat & Glo (Heatnglo)
Although we specialise in Cannon heater repairs, our certified team can assist with all types of brands and manufacturers.
Please see below images of a recent heater service/inspection, where lint has built up excessively inside the fan which can lead to fires and other serious issues such as overheating or fracturing the heating mechanism that can also lead to carbon monoxide spillage which puts you and your family at risk.
This shows the real dangers and hazards of not regularly servicing your gas heater.
